- What is IVC?
- IVC (Intervarsity Club) is a network of clubs throughout the UK for graduates, professional and like minded people. It provides an opportunity for its members
to get together to enjoy a variety of social, sporting and cultural activities. It is not affiliated to any political party or religious group, profit making or fund raising organisation.
- Do I have to be a graduate?
- No. IVC was formed in the 1940s after a group of people had graduated and sought to extend their social life. Today, however, we have members from all walks of life.
- How old do I have to be?
- IVC is for people from 21 and up. Some members have been in IVC for several years and we cater to all age groups.
- How much is it to join?
- If you join in January, the fee is £25. As a new member, you may find yourself joining later in the year. The fee will be reduced on a month-by-month basis. But don't reach in to your wallet or purse just yet. We invite you to attend three events before you commit yourself to membership. Try before you buy.
- How do I join?
- Just simply go to the Contact Us page and follow the instructions of contacting Plymouth IVC by telephone, by e-mail or with the form provided on this page
- Is IVC a singles club?
- No. IVC appeals mainly to single people although many couples belong to the club. It is not intended to be a dating agency. If you are looking for a partner, you may meet someone in IVC but you are best advised to join a club that is designed for singles dating.
- If I join Plymouth IVC, does it mean I can join events at other Intervarsity Clubs?
- Yes. Each club is part of an umbrella association entitled AIVC (Association of Intervarsity Clubs). Some clubs organise holidays and special events and invite members from clubs across the UK to join them.
- What will I expect to find?
- You will be given a programme of events put together by members. As a prospective member, the host will ensure that, on your first event, you will be looked after and introduced to other members. We are a friendly club and we welcome new members.
- Will I be expected to host events?
- Once you become a member, become familiar with the club. Bi-monthly planning meetings provides opportunity members to host events of their choice. We ask that members host two events a year but only when you are ready. You may find that you have something new and exciting to offer as an activity. We will help and support you to host or co-host an event.
- But I still have some more questions
